Well, I haven’t been posting to this blog because there
really isn’t a thing to write about. I haven’t gotten a thing done! Notta! I naturally
have excuses, wedding in Iowa last weekend, working crazy hours at work. It was
too hot last week and now it is cold this week. I cannot make any sort of commitment
for next week either. My daughter comes home from Kenya one week from tomorrow,
so I think my head will be mushy-mushy until then. Argh! One of these days,
though, I will get it together.
I. READING –
A. Daily goal
1. Read two other
blog posts a day. Nope
2. Read in at
least one of the three books I am reading. Maybe
B. Weekly goal
1. Do research on
my novel. Not really
2. Start research for my next
novel. Are you serious?
C. Goals for the Round
1. Have finished reading five
books. I did finish reading one book. I
need to write a review of it, it was really good.
II. WRITING
A. Daily goal
1. Work on something for two hours
a day. Not even close
a. Write on my
novel
b. Write my blog
posts
c. Work on paperwork for the
nonprofit organization
B. Goals for the Round
1. Have finished
my novel.
2. Have finished all of the
paperwork for the nonprofit.
III. REACHING
A. Weekly goal
1. Comment on two
other blog posts. I didn’t even do this.
2. Research
markets for an hour. Nope
3. Keep up on social media,
spending not more than a few hours a week on it. You will not believe this, but I actually didn’t even do much of this
this week.
B. Goals for the Round
1. Have submitted
three pieces somewhere.
2. Book signing at a local
library.
3. Have survived
my speaking engagements at two writers’ conferences.
IV. PERSONAL (goals by the end of the round)
A. Running
1. Have run in the 5K on July 4. Ok, so truly this is the only thing I really
accomplished this month so far.
2. Continue running a few times a
week just to improve my time and stay in shape. I haven’t gotten back up to three miles since the 5K.
3. Maybe run another 5K if I find
a convenient one. Not looking good.
B. Family
1. Have settled my mom into better
housing. It figures that this is the only
thing going anywhere. Mom hopes to move in two weeks, if all goes well.
2. Have planned that vacation with
Hubby in September. I’m starting to think
we won’t be going on vacation.
C. Nonprofit
1. Have submitted all of the
required paperwork. This will get going
as soon as my daughter gets home.
2. By September 20, have become a
401(c)3 nonprofit organization.
Iowa wildflowers. One of many distractions last week.
I was just sitting here thinking I am WAY too tired to write after putting my son to bed. It is so disappointing because I've looked forward to it all day!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean to get tired of your own excuses. You seem to have a lot on your ROW80 plate. Maybe it is time to cut a little because life is in such high gear for you right now. Good luck and the flowers are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteExcuses... we all have them :S Maybe you could scale down your goals? Just focus on one or two small pieces... say read in your book every day and see if you can make that vacation happen? Sounds like you have a lot of stuff going on, maybe that is what you need to get your umph back?
ReplyDeleteI cam empathise; I feel like I've hardly got anything done lately, and this check-in was my first for about two weeks. You have a lot of goals, and I think if you can keep up with a few of them and gradually build up to more, it will eventually get easier :)
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like a lot of goals, but I have had more than this on my plate. I think that it is more the summer-thing. We all rather play in the summer than buckle down and work. I'll give it a few more weeks and see where I am at. Thanks for all the support.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at some of your comments next to your goals, but only because I've felt that way so much of the time lately (for a whole bunch of my own excuses). So many of my goals have had a big "Nada" next to them lately. But what I've found re-energizes me is starting back small and celebrating baby steps of progress until I get the ball rolling and it gains momentum. But you are certainly not alone with the excuses bit. Isn't it nice to share with a group that understands and roots you on? ;-)
