I had something going on after the day job every night
this week, except for Thursday, when the hubby really just wanted me to watch
TV with him for once. I knew I was going to spend very little time in my office
writing or working on writing, but it still has me down that I have nothing to
show for the last seven days. It’s more than that even, but I can’t get into it
here. I know the first of the year is coming and after the holidays, I have
plans to hole up in my office for the rest of the winter.
As far as my goals, as you may have guessed, not much got
done. I did finish my church’s Christmas program and have all the people and
kids I need. I have to call two parents tonight just to confirm something, but
other than that, I think I have it. I want to bounce the final copy off one of
my musical friends to see if she thinks the lineup makes sense. Then this week,
I just need to start handing out the parts, talk to the secretary about making
me some copies. Yea, I think that may be it.
For the coming week, I am once again straying from my goals. I
work late on Monday, I am meeting a friend for supper on Tuesday, I have to
catch up with everyone at church on Wednesday, I have to go back to church on
Thursday night to help make cookies for the bazaar on Saturday. Umm? What do
you think about Friday? Help set up for the bazaar or go Christmas shopping?
That one is a no-brainer, don’t you think?
While working on my other blog last night, I had to take
some pictures of Mary and Joseph from one of my nativity sets. Alice was
checking out Joseph. Or more likely, she was put out because I was using her couch.
Hey, it's the end of the year and you have the Christmas play to work on. Enjoy yourself; you'll get whatever writing done that you will when you can.
ReplyDeleteSeeing the cat with St. Joseph reminds me of the year Mom's dog chewed up the head of one of the Magi. We joked that we now had Melchior, Balthazar, and Skeletor. I'm surprised your cat hasn't decided to see if Joe can fly...
Too funny, John. Yes, once the Christmas decorations are all up, I enter the house each time anxiously checking to see what the cat has gotten into. She has been pretty good, but she may have spent the last three years plotting. With cats, one never knows.
DeleteNothing wrong in straying slightly. Writing has its maddening effect. Long as you don't hibernate in the office thru the winter. As a phrase goes, On the Seventh day, God say let everything be cool, and so here we are.
ReplyDeleteCats are known plotters and schemers, sometimes they have habit of jumping on your shoulder from behind, covering your eyes with its paw and say guess who.
Luckily, the dog is usually close enough to me that if the cat is planning a sneak attack, the dog diffuses the situation by begging for attention. Makes it hard to hibernate at my house - too many animals!
DeleteAh, but the cat brings humor when you need to smile, yes? That pic looks like Alice is seriously plotting or giving Joseph the evil eye. That Christmas play will bring joy to many, so know that your efforts will be appreciated. I'm sending wishes your way for a little bit of tranquility between all those commitments. The writing will come back when you are ready. Enjoy each moment.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Beth, for your continued support. I really appreciate it.
